Governors

Bartley Green School has a long tradition of providing high quality learning opportunities for pupils; the heart of its success lies within the positive relationships between pupils, parents, carers and teachers and support staff. We, the governors take a keen interest in the learning, progress and attainment of our pupils; we are exceptionally proud of the school’s achievements, aspirations of the pupils for their future and Bartley Green School’s reputation within the community.

Pam's Profile

My background is in Manufacturing Industry specialising in Supply Chain and Production Planning.

I became involved with Bartley Green School about 20 years ago when I was invited to take part in a scheme introducing the pupils to the world of work.

At this time I was living in Bartley Green and working for Cadbury at Bournville. The company was keen to be involved with education and had many links with local schools. I have two daughters who were both in education at the time and I was delighted to take part and share my expertise.

From there I was invited to join the Governing Body and after about 12 months was elected to Vice Chair. I was elected Chair a couple of years later when the post became vacant.

I serve on the Finance, Audit and General Purposes Committee and Chair the Staffing and Pay Committee and the Safeguarding, Premises and Safety Committee. My experience in management is put to good use on these committees and also gives a wider perspective to issues that arise.

John's Profile

My background is in local government finance and I became involved with school governing about twenty years ago.

I started by being persuaded by the then Chair of Governors at St Luke’s C of E Primary School to became a governor. She left after a year and I found myself Chair in her place! When the school closed because of falling pupil rolls in the area, wishing to continue being involved in school governing, I became a governor at Bartley Green School, chairing the Finance, Audit and General Purposes Committee. About this time, I took early retirement and became involved with Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureau, becoming a trustee and then Chair of the Trustee Board. After the permitted maximum of six years as Chair I stood down from BCAB and extended my school governing activities, becoming a governor at St Michael’s Bartley Green C of E Primary School and a little later, I was invited to become Chair of the Interim Executive Board at Aston Park Primary School. After four terms in this role, the school as planned, was transferred to an academy trust. Shortly afterwards, I was invited to join the Interim Executive Board at Small Heath School.
