Studying English at Bartley Green School allows pupils to be immersed in a vast array of texts that will challenge, inspire and excite them and so ignite a passion for reading that will stay with them for life. It is through this that our pupils widen their understanding of the world in which they live and so we provide pupils with the knowledge needed to learn and appreciate the beauty of language through exploration of the writer’s craft. Our emphasis is on discovering, creating and using their voice, having the confidence to express opinions, share ideas and understand the viewpoints of others. We offer our pupils the opportunity to develop a strong sense of self which will lead them into success at school and beyond.
